HONOURS EVEN AT REDCAR
REDCAR and Leicester drew 45-45 in a pulsating night of Championship action at the Media Prima Arena.
The result is a major blow to the Bears’ hopes of finishing in the top two, whilst the Lion still have the chance to advance beyond their current fourth place prior to the play-offs.
The visitors held an eight-point advantage with five heats to go, but the Bears came roaring back in the closing stages.
A Leicester 4-2 in Heat 14 gave them a 44-40 lead but Charles Wright and Lewis Kerr tied the match with a 5-1 over Nick Morris and Kyle Howarth in the decider.
Wright piled up 17 from six rides for the Bears with Kerr adding 12+1, whilst Howarth (12) and Morris (10) were in double figures for the Lions.
Morris said: “The boys battled hard and we shouldn’t have let them get back into the meeting, but Redcar are a good side.
“I think the referee was inconsistent with the starts tonight and that cost us the meeting really, and we should have won.”
