PREVIEW: POOLE v NEWCASTLE (Champ)
POOLE have an opportunity to pull clear at the top of the Championship when they host Newcastle at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
The Pirates are one of five teams currently on 31 points and can complete a double over the Diamonds after a big win at Brough Park earlier this month.
Recent signing Benjamin Basso makes his home debut whilst the visitors continue to operate rider replacement for the injured Matthew Wethers.
Poole co-promoter Danny Ford said: “We have gone unbeaten at home so far this season and it is our intention to keep things that way.
“I guess many will be expecting us to repeat what we did on Newcastle’s own patch when we meet against on Wednesday, but the important message is that we cannot afford to think the result will be a given.
“We have seen too much this year of us taking our foot off the gas when in a commanding position and that has cost us precious league points.”
POOLE: Rory Schlein, Benjamin Basso, Steve Worrall, Stefan Nielsen, Danny King, Ben Cook, Danyon Hume.
NEWCASTLE: Ben Barker, Matthew Wethers R/R, James Wright, Max Clegg, Connor Mountain, Archie Freeman, Adam Roynon.
