BRITISH FINAL PREVIEW

BELLE Vue stage the 2021 Sports Insure British Final at the National Speedway Stadium tonight (Monday).

Rory Schlein defends the title he won in last year’s behind-closed-doors event, and there are five other former winners in the line-up – Charles Wright, Craig Cook, Danny King, Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris.

Home hopes are with Aces No.1 Dan Bewley, who is set to start as favourite, skipper Steve Worrall and Wright, although Richie Worrall has been ruled out with a foot injury.

Bewley said: “You do feel a little pressure to perform in front of your home crowd, but that’s not something I try to pay too much attention to in the build-up.

“It’s a nice feeling to be thought of as the favourite and hopefully that is still the case come the end of the night, but there are no guarantees.

“There’s a lot of strong riders in this event and all of them do tend to step things up for this meeting. It won’t be easy but I’m up for the challenge and we’ll see how it goes.”

Paul Starke and Simon Lambert come into the line-up to replace Richie Worrall and Edward Kennett, who is out with illness.
