Report

POOLE slammed Glasgow 62-28 to take a firm grip of the BSN Series Final at the halfway stage.

The Tigers were unable to contend with a sensational show of strength from the Pirates, who recorded all but three of the race wins and did not suffer a single last place.

Skipper Steve Worrall roared to a paid maximum with 14+1 and Richard Lawson added 13+1 whilst Ben Cook chipped in with 11 from four rides. Youngster Ace Pijper was the only real positive for the visitors as he scored five, winning Heat 2.

Worrall said: “That was a lot better from me tonight. It was more of what I know I am capable of doing, and what I’ve shown I can do over the last couple of years.

“So, personally, I am really happy with my own performance and from a team’s point of view, well I honestly did not expect the final scoreline to be what it was.

“It has given us a big advantage now to take to their place and that is somewhere we have all rode well in the past, and we know what we’ve got to do now.”

Glasgow manager Cami Brown said: “It’s another very disappointing performance. Poole have outridden us out of the starts and that’s what it takes to win matches here.

“It’s going to be extremely difficult in the second leg. We are very disappointed in some of the performances tonight, not happy at all.

“Ace did really well but there were too many failures as well. We have to look at that.”
