POSTPONED: BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP, GLASGOW

SUNDAY’S round of the British Youth Championship at Glasgow has been postponed due to rain. A new date for the meeting is to be arranged.

THE first stand-alone British Youth Championship Round in 2024 takes place today (Sunday, 2pm) at Glasgow.

A fantastic turnout of 33 riders will be taking part across the four classes of 500cc, 250cc, 125cc and 125cc Support, meaning this round will consist of 37 races including a winner-takes-all Final for each class.

Last year’s 250cc British Champion William Cairns makes his 500cc competitive debut alongside Stene Pijper, who rides for the Glasgow-based NJL team Ashfield as well as NDL combined team Scunthorpe/Sheffield.

Middlesbrough’s William Hocaniuk also competes along with five other riders keen to showcase themselves to watching NDL promoters.

The 250cc class consists of Jamie Etherington and Archie Rolph, who were rostrum finishers in Round 1 at Workington last month, as well as Seth Norman and Caydin Martin who travel to Europe later this month to compete in 250cc competitions representing Great Britain.

First round winner in the 125cc class Oli Bovingdon takes part along with fellow rostrum finishers Lewis Hague and Rocco Webb, and it’s the first round today for the 125cc Support class with a great attendance of eight riders.

The Young Lions would like to thank the Glasgow promotion for their continued support of British Youth Speedway, as well as the British Youth Championship series sponsors – which includes AGF Plant Ltd, who are based in Berwick-upon-Tweed, who are supplying tyres to the winners of today’s event.

After today’s round the series moves onto Birmingham on July 15.
